Three languages, six directions: choosing your practice
Choose your familiar and target languages
Pairing Chinese, English and Japanese creates six learning directions. Set a familiar language for meaning and a target language for practice. Focus on one direction for a session so you can tell whether you remember the expression.
Compare the same everyday situation
For a greeting, listen in the target language and check the meaning in your familiar language. Later, reverse the direction to test recall. Translation depends on context: avoid matching every word mechanically, and remember that an idea can have several natural expressions.
Listen, choose, repeat and review
Listen first, use a reading-choice exercise to check comprehension, and then record yourself repeating the phrase. Revisit practiced expressions in review. Content levels are learning aids, not HSK, JLPT or CEFR certification.
